Netflix Doesn't Want You to Find What You Want

Remember when you could sort your "My List" A–Z? Or by the date you added a title?

Gone.

Netflix quietly killed those buttons. Now you're stuck with one option: "Netflix Suggestions." Translation: whatever Netflix wants to push that week.

This wasn't an accident. It's the same trick casinos pull when they remove the clocks and windows. If you can't find the exit, you stay. The longer you scroll, the more content they shove in your face, the more likely you give up and click whatever new reality show they're pushing.

That documentary you saved in 2019? Buried. On purpose.

The Algorithm Is Not Your Friend

That "Match Score" Netflix shows you? It doesn't tell you if a movie is good. It tells you if the movie fits the profile Netflix built for you, which conveniently lines up with whatever original content is cheapest for them to promote.

And it isn't only Netflix. Prime, Disney+ and the rest each push their own shows first. None of them will tell you that a film you saved just arrived on another service you already pay for.

You pay for the subscriptions. They decide what you see.

That's backwards.

So Here's What Watchlist Boosted Does Instead

I got tired of scrolling through a disorganized mess to find something to watch, so I built the tool the streaming services should have given us. It does two jobs.

Keep track of everything you want to see

Hear about it early, and don’t lose it

Save a film months before it’s out. You get a countdown, and an email the day it reaches a service you pay for.

What’s coming to cinemas

Where it streams, anywhere

Every title shows where it streams in your country, filtered to your services, and which other countries have it.

How it works

The shows you’re watching

Where you stopped, when the next episode is out, and an email when a new season is announced.

The nine moods

Know what it’s like, without spoilers

A short take on how each title feels, so you can tell a slow burn from a thriller before you press play.

Every rating on one screen

IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Letterboxd, Trakt and RogerEbert.com side by side, and the age Common Sense Media suggests for families. Sort your whole list by IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Letterboxd or Trakt.

Remember why you saved it

One line on any title: who recommended it, or what it’s for. Months later it settles the choice between two films you can’t remember.

Watch reasons

Filter by mood and by what you can stream, and a list of 200 becomes a list of four.

KILLER FEATURE

Finally End the "What Should We Watch?" Standoff

You know the scene. You, your partner, maybe a friend on a video call. Forty-five minutes of scrolling. Nothing chosen. Snacks gone cold.

Watchlist Boosted lets you share your watchlist with multiple friends, so everyone can see what overlaps. Find the movie you all actually want to watch in minutes, not hours.

Date night. Family movie night. Long-distance friend hangout. Solved.

Sort Your Netflix My List Again

Netflix took the sort buttons away, so the only way to sort Netflix My List today is to take the list out of Netflix. Export your Netflix watchlist with a free browser extension, drop the file in here, and sort it by IMDb rating, year, runtime, or how long it has been sitting there.

The same works for Letterboxd, IMDb, JustWatch, Prime Video and TV Time exports, and Simkl, Trakt and TMDB connect with one click and stay in sync.

Why It's Free

Simple: your watchlist is your data. You shouldn't pay twice to use it. Once to Netflix, and again to someone like me.

If Netflix won't give us a search bar that works or a basic sort button, we'll build our own. And we'll give it away.

Questions People Ask

How do I sort my Netflix My List?

Netflix removed the sort options from My List, so you cannot sort it inside Netflix any more. Export your Netflix watchlist with a free Chrome extension, import the file into Watchlist Boosted, and sort it by IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes rating, year, runtime or when you added it.

How do I export my Netflix watchlist?

Install the Netflix Watch List Manager extension in Chrome, open netflix.com/browse/my-list, and click Export. You get a JSON file you can drop straight into Watchlist Boosted. The full walkthrough is in the Netflix export guide.

Is Watchlist Boosted free?

Yes. There is no paywall and no premium tier. Your watchlist is your data, and you should not have to pay twice to use it.

Can it tell me when a film comes to my streaming services?

Yes. Pick the services you pay for, and you get an email the day a film or show you saved arrives on one of them. Films you save before release get a countdown, and the same email when they land.

Does it show where something streams outside the US?

Yes. Each title shows where it streams in your country, with your own services first, and which other countries have it. Availability comes from JustWatch through TMDB.

Which services can I import from?

Netflix, Letterboxd, IMDb, JustWatch and Prime Video by file, Simkl, Trakt and TMDB by a one-click live connection, and any other list as a CSV. TV Time users can import the export they saved before it closed.

Where do the ratings come from?

IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic scores come from OMDb, and Letterboxd, Trakt and RogerEbert.com scores from MDBList. TMDB provides its own rating, posters, cast, trailers and streaming availability by country through JustWatch.

Can I share my watchlist with friends?

Yes. Share your list by email with as many people as you like, see which titles you have all saved, and compare ratings side by side.

Stop Letting a Machine Decide Your Evening

Save what you hear about. Get told when it lands. Pick something good in two minutes, and watch it with people you love.
